Most process recipients are fairly easy to find, but every once in a while, one will give us a run for our money. When someone is obviously avoiding being found, we have a few tools we can use to help us in the search:
Public Records
There are tons of information available publicly, including property records, tax records, vehicle records, employment history, and more. We search multiple public sources for additional addresses and known associates we can contact during our search.
Social Media
Social media contains a wealth of information about the people who use it. From tagging that restaurant you like to eat lunch at to attaching a geotag to your Snapchat, there are so many ways for a process server to find someone based on their social media activity.
Skip Tracing
Skip tracing is a process that process servers use to dig up information on an evasive person. Skip traces go beyond public records and deep dive into a person’s legal history, criminal background, and more. Skip tracing can provide lots of information that can be helpful in legal cases.
Diligent Search
If a skip trace doesn’t do the trick, we can initiate a diligent search. Diligent searches include all the information from the skip trace, but also really narrow down to one specific aspect of the person’s life. Diligent searches are great for legal matters that require a person to be accounted for before continuing, such as is common in custody cases.
